“Hauptstadtrestaurant – Gendarmerie” is the culinary centre with real capital city flair on Behrenstrasse. There is room for 200 people and the 13 m long bar, at which cocktail fans can already enjoy Happy Hour in the afternoon, gives the room a cosy atmosphere.
In cooperation with interior designer Thomas Müller and Christine Bunk, herself an artist, the entire restaurant was given a new look and adapted to reflect the atmosphere of Berlin. As soon as they enter the door, guests are greeted by a wooden figure sheathed in lead – the “gendarme”.
Together with a vast display of blown-up photographs of prominent Berlin personalities such as Hildegard Knef and Horst Buchholz, “Bacchanale”, the biggest wood relief in the world and an original Jean-Yves Klein, highlight the restaurant’s unusual design.
